It’s in those early years in kindergarten and grade school that make parents evaluate their kid’s performance and results. Grading systems are often manifested through gold stars or demerits. Academics and grades have become a meter for your child’s intellectual capacity. In more ways than one, kids are pressured to always think alike or even outsmart each other. It becomes a problem when children find external praises more valuable than the satisfaction about acing that multiplication table. What does it mean to attain true knowledge?

Knowledge is not just accumulating information

Well, true learning comes from acknowledging one’s skillset and pace. To top it off, gathering facts or information does not translate to attaining knowledge. It’s a process towards applying the latter and there are measures to develop your child’s working memory and intelligence like  cognitive programme Singapore. True learning comes from acknowledging one’s skillset and pace. As parents, you pave way for a new generation to prosper in a world much different than yours.

Groundwork of the inquisitive mind

When you say don’t let school stop your education, it means education transcends the four walls of the classroom. If you are familiar of the SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis, it’s time to apply this in discovering the interests and talents of your child. It’s importance to maximize the strengths to minimize the weaknesses. Without sounding negative, locating areas for improvement implies a child’s ability to cope up. By establishing a brain foundation through an assessment, children would not feel confined in the so-called box.

Perception on the world through the senses

A child sees magic in the world because of his sense of wonder and curiosity. It’s not about boring them with the same textbook questions but letting them inquire independently. Laying the groundwork where the interests and passions are explored, kids should be able to ask the essential questions. Along with independent research, they should proceed to answering those questions eventually. Why should your child think the same as everyone else in this complex and diverse world?

Scheme to design ideas that address needs

A rapidly changing world influences a child’s behaviour. His perception of it is a cognitive process that integrates all information, generating a new memory.  Sometimes, the problem is a child’s short-attention span. She should engage in activities that make her process information thoroughly. It is important for the development of daily situations as a child’s thoughts connects knowledge and events. Children should have language as an outlet for expressing thoughts and emotions. At the end of the day, the child should have a deeper understanding and sensitivity with one’s self and others.

Experience is the best teacher

Perception and beliefs are not the only sources of our knowledge. How a child reasons her heart out to jump off the roof and fly form part of his intellectual development and experience. A child’s innocence and joy are too precious for the blatant reality. But an experience-based education is vital foundation for the brain. Through a programme that is socially relevant and innovative, a child can stretch thinking outside the box, keep an eye on his goals, and help solve problems. Look beyond the report cards!
